A. L. Noonan is a journalist and writer from London covering music, food & drink, politics, sport and cultural oddity.

Noonan has written about topics ranging from slap fighting and Britain’s folk music renaissance, to Japanese monster wrestling and perpetual stew.

He has written for The Guardian, The Economist, NPR, Prospect, delicious., Vittles, So Young, Hard of Hearing and HIDEOUS.

He honed his reporting skills in the Video department of The Economist where he was the 2023 Films Fellow.

Noonan won the INMA award for Best Use of Visual Journalism and Storytelling Tools for his work on The Economist’s first multimedia investigation into gun violence in US schools.

Noonan is also a 2025 John Schofield Trust Fellow.

Before working in journalism, Noonan was an accomplished session musician and wine merchant.
